Welcome to theRazors Edge Skate Park ProjectFreestyle Skateboard Competition |
HELMETS MUST BE WORN & SAFETY GEAR IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
CATEGORIES
There will be 4 categories:
BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED
“OLD FARTS” – Doing it “old school”, show the younger generation how it’s done
BEGINNER - haven't been skating that long still in the early stages of skateboarding
INTERMEDIATE - been skating for a while pretty good, but still have a lot to learn
ADVANCED - so you're a hot shot eh? You been skating for a while and you're darn good
FORMAT
The format will be a little different. It will be head to head double elimination. Instead of 1 rider having 2 one-minute runs, riders will skate in a heat of 2 riders, for 2 minutes. This way it takes some of the pressure off and allows the skaters to relax, concentrate on skating, and have fun, and that's what this competition is all about. The rider with the higher score will advance in the “winner” bracket. The rider with the lower score will move to the “loser” bracket and have second chance to advance to the finals. Awards will be given for the top three riders in each Category (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
REGISTRATION
REGISTRATION is a $10.00 donation, which will go toward building the new Skate Park in Sparta
Register the day of the competition and unfortunately you will still have to fill out the unavoidable waiver form (sigh).
If you aren't 18 the form will have to be signed by a parent or a guardian, and NO FUNNY STUFF.
Also, if you don't have the waiver signed, you will not be able to ride the course, whether you're in the competition or not.
All registration must be completed (waiver signed) by 12:00 the day of the competition.
You have plenty of time so no excuses.
JUDGING
We will have a panel of judges judging the whole competition. Competitors will be judged in the areas of artistry, consistency, fluidity, and difficulty of tricks. Each rider will receive a score out of 100 points (up to 25 for each area), and this is what will decide the final placing.
1. Judges should be positioned in a location that has a clear and unobstructed view.
2. OVERALL PERFORMANCE: Is the skater in control of his skating? Whatever the freestyler is doing, does he do it well? How much of the skating surface is used?
3. THE DETAILS OF THE SKATE PERFORMANCE:
4. ARTISTRY – “Where conception and execution are governed by imagination and taste; one who creates a beautiful thing”
5. CONSISTENCY – “Condition of adhering together; Coherence”
6. FLUIDITY – “Capable of flowing, as style; Free to change in form”
7. DIFFICULTY – “Hard to do, to make, or to carry out; Not easy”
